Promoting the use of bicycles for the purpose of daily travel involves improving intermodality to link up with other modes of transport. Bicitranscat makes provision for the implementation of actions to facilitate the combined use of bicycles in conjunction with other forms of public transport, such as buses and trains. One of the project’s goals is to improve the availability of information in relation to cycle routes, bicycle rental schedules and services, among others, as well as providing bicycle racks on coaches and parking areas for bicycles and electricity charging points at strategic points along the route.

Similarly, the Government of Catalonia’s ‘Mou-te’ online route planner will be improved as a key tool to achieving the intermodality goals established.

Bicitranscat responds to a regional need for the improvement of sustainable mobility options, as well as providing a new infrastructure for the development of active and nature tourism.

Bicitranscat represents a range of cross-border economic, social and environmental implications as a result of the joint strategies implemented which promote sustainable regional development. As such, the project will develop the region in a sustainable manner both from a tourism and economic perspective.

 Mou-te is the online route planner provided by the Government of Catalonia which integrates all the public transport services operated within Catalonia.

It provides information on timetables and routes for urban and intercity buses and trains operated by the Government of Catalonia, the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB), the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (TMB), the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the local town and city councils.
